The topic of this novel is so impressive that we are immediately absorbed in a world of dreams and imaginations - "Feeling the Spreading Moonlights". (Translated by by)
The topic gives us a strong sense of peace, satisfaction, serinity and happiness. This is done by the good Chinese literacy of the writer.
The story starts with a very calm and peaceful opening. This is just a reflection of the topic - calm and peaceful. Unlike the other adult novels, it gives us a feeling as if we are standing near the seashore enjoying a sea breaze blowing across us. At this point, I do not fully agree to the comments of the editor that the story is a bit too flat.
As a matter of fact, this is exactly an example of good proficiency of romantic story writing. It starts with something calm and quiet, simply giving the readers a sense of comfort especially those who have just read those barely explicit sex novels. I like this type of writing because it gradually picks up the atmosphere of sex without giving detailed sex behaviour. The writer has successfullu induced the readers to keep on reading because they want to look for something more exciting and explicit. This is something like a fisherman attracting a fish with a bait. Let the fish tastes the smell and then hooks it.
The descriptions of the inward feelings and psychological conflicts in the female characters have made this novel even more worth reading. The description of the mature woman's inward feelings is so successful that the reader do share the same sex frustrations as her, especially in her watching the love making of her niece. It is not easy to describe one's inward feelings, especially about sex frustrations and stress in the weman. The lengthy depition of the mature woman has given us an impression that the writer understands the mental and psychological problems of woman, especially those who suffer from unsatisfied sex fullfillment.
Once comes to the climax of sex description, the writer has not failed to give us detailed physically sex arousing writings. They have gone deep in the descriptions of the sex acts. It is a pity, however, the writer has not used the same technique in writing his sex experince with the other sexs.
There are still some rooms the writer to improve in his paraphrasing and organization. But when time pass by, he will surely become a very popular novelist in some days. |
